1. UCLA 3D/XR Day

Join us on March 22, as we launch Bruinverse, a VR environment filled with UCLA's latest XR projects and workshops! The two week scavenger hunt raffle will culminate in a half-day summit on April 6 with a keynote, lightning talks, and engaging conversations on all things 3D and immersive. Check out the schedule and RSVP here.

March is Women’s History Month and we would like for UCLA to contribute to the UC WIT Committee’s annual “UC Women Rock IT” blog article. The article will be published in March and will highlight the contributions of women in tech across the UC system.

1. New app and lab kit can turn your smartphone into a COVID-19 and flu virus detection test

In a potential game changer for COVID-19 pandemic control efforts, a new cell phone app and lab kit have transformed a smartphone into a COVID-19/flu detection system. The detection system is among the most rapid, sensitive, affordable and scalable tests known — and can be readily adapted for other pathogens with pandemic potential including deadly variants of COVID and flu.

It is important that we understand the needs and interests of the BruinTech community, so that we continue to evolve in thoughtful, relevant ways and provide ongoing value to our community.

We launched an assessment of BruinTech last fall with a series of listening sessions. This spring, we hope you will continue to provide input via a series of very short surveys.
