Scholarship Opportunities
The BruinTech Executive Board is pleased to announce our annual scholarship program. As part of UCLA BruinTech’s mission, we strive to foster personal development and professional growth through our annual scholarships. Our goal is to enrich the UCLA community by offering Bruin technologists an opportunity to further their knowledge through professional development programs and continuing education classes.
This year we are excited to be awarding four (4) scholarships in total: three (3) $1,000 scholarships for a UCLA Extension course and one (1) Jackie Reynolds Scholarship, which covers the cost of a seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program (TMP).
The UCLA Extension scholarships are paid by BruinTech, and scholarship recipients do not have to pay the course/program fee up front. The UCLA Extension course scholarship covers one course of up to $1,000. The course scholarship does not cover any supplies or materials needed for the course. The scholarship must be used by no later than December 31, 2024.
Scholarship recipient must be a current UCLA employee at the time of application submission and course completion. Members at large are allowed to apply. Current voting board members and past recipients are not eligible.

A total of four (4) BruinTech scholarships were awarded for the 2024 calendar year.
- Three (3) scholarships were awarded towards the cost of a UCLA Extension Course of up to $1,000.
- Scholarship recipients are required to provide an enrollment confirmation upon completion of the course. This can be in the form of unofficial transcript, confirmation of completion, or statement of grade.
- If the recipient cannot attend or complete the course within the specified timeframe, the award will be forfeited.
- The Jackie Reynolds Scholarship covers one (1) seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program (TMP). This 5-day course will be held March 24 - 29 and in September (dates TBA). Applicants for this scholarship must submit a letter of support from their supervisor and provide proof of completion at the end of the program.
- The TMP is a 5-day program that offers the latest leadership techniques from experienced professionals and industry leaders. New managers can develop into dynamic leaders by discovering productive ways to solve problems, strategize, and motivate others. Experienced managers can upgrade their latest thinking on management and leadership. This intensive week-long program helps managers gain leadership skills, enhance interpersonal skills, learn the latest business trends and paradigms, obtain a repertoire of management methods, and network with attendees from around the world.
All scholarship award recipients are invited to a future BruinTech event (date TBA) to share with others what they have learned from their classes in a brief presentation (this could be pre-recorded video). Scholarship recipients will also be presented a certificate during the Spring conference.
ELIGIBILITY
Scholarships are available to all career staff and eligible contract employees who have completed their probation period. Graduate students are not eligible. Applicants can apply to both scholarships but can only be awarded one scholarship.
APPLICATION PROCESS
To apply to the UCLA Extension Course scholarship:
- Applicants shall submit a statement (500 words or less) describing how a specific UCLA Extension course will support their professional development and benefit their respective department, broader campus, or the University system.
To apply to the Jackie Reynolds Scholarship that covers one (1) seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program (TMP):
- Applicants shall submit a statement (500 words or less) describing how the UCLA Extension TMP will support their professional development and benefit their respective department, broader campus, or the University system.
- Applicants shall also include a letter of support from their supervisor with their application submission.
