1. UCLA Duo Desktop: New Security Requirement
To enhance cybersecurity, UCLA is rolling out Duo Desktop, a lightweight application that performs a security health check on Windows and macOS devices. This tool ensures your system meets UCLA’s security standards—specifically verifying the installation of Trellix, the UC-approved antivirus software.
Key Highlights:
Mandatory by May 28, 2025 for all university-owned and personal devices accessing trusted UCLA networks or sensitive applications.
Applies to: High-risk applications like BruinBuy Plus, Office 365 (UCLA EM), Salesforce, GitHub Enterprise, and more.
Exemptions: Mobile devices, Linux systems, and non-Windows tablets.
How it works: Duo Desktop checks for Trellix before granting access to protected apps.
Installation: Available for self-installation during login or via the Getting Started Guide.
Stay secure—install Duo Desktop before the deadline to avoid access disruptions.
