4. 2025 EDUCAUSE AI Landscape Study: Key Insights on AI in Higher Ed
The latest EDUCAUSE AI Landscape Study reveals how higher education institutions are navigating the evolving role of artificial intelligence. Based on a survey conducted in late 2024, the study explores strategy, policy, workforce, and use cases across campuses.
Key Findings Include:
Strategic Priority: 57% of institutions now view AI as a strategic priority, up from 49% last year.
Funding Gaps: Only 2% of institutions are funding AI initiatives with new resources.
Policy Development: AI-related acceptable use policies rose from 23% to 39% adoption.
Teaching & Learning: AI is most used in academic integrity (74%), coursework (65%), and assessment (54%).
Workforce Development: Institutions are prioritizing upskilling existing staff (37%) over hiring new talent.
The study highlights a growing urgency to align institutional strategies with the rapid pace of AI development, especially in teaching, policy, and workforce readiness.
