It is important that we understand the needs and interests of the BruinTech community, so that we continue to evolve in thoughtful, relevant ways and provide ongoing value to our community.

We launched an assessment of BruinTech last fall with a series of listening sessions. This spring, we hope you will continue to provide input via a series of very short surveys.

2. The Joe Rogan v Neil Young furore reveals Spotify’s new priority: naked capitalism

Neil Young this week issued Spotify with a blunt ultimatum: it’s me or Joe Rogan. The Canadian-American musician criticised its exclusive hosting of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in a letter to his manager and record label published online, which asked his music be removed from the streaming service. Spotify chose Rogan, removing Young’s entire back catalogue. Continue reading.

5. New Broadband ‘Nutrition Label’ Will Highlight How ISPs Are Ripping You Off

The FCC will soon force the nation’s broadband monopolies to be more transparent about exactly how they’re ripping you off.

According to an agency announcement, the FCC voted today to require ISPs to provide a “nutrition label” for broadband connections. Under the rule, your ISP would need to clearly highlight any hidden fees, line limitations, usage caps, or other restrictions on your broadband line. ISPs will also be required to disclose the speed and latency of the connections they sell. Continue reading.
