- The Crisis of Human Collective Decision-making in a Social Media World
The UCLA Library is hosting a lecture titled "The Crisis of Human Collective Decision-making in a Social Media World" on March 4, 2025. The event features Carl T. Bergstrom, a professor at the University of Washington, who will discuss the impact of social media and information technology on society. Bergstrom will explore how these technologies have transformed human communication and collective understanding, often prioritizing ad clicks over accurate information. He will also consider the role of machine learning algorithms and large language models like ChatGPT in this context. The talk aims to provide insights and potential solutions for improving the spread of accurate information and strengthening democracy.
This talk is offered both in person and online.Light refreshments will be
served.

4. BruinTech Scholarship Applications Closing Today
