1. Thank You for Joining the First 2025 BruinTech Social!

We are thrilled to share that our first BruinTech social of 2025 was a resounding success! With nearly 60 technologists from various departments across UCLA, the event was a vibrant gathering of minds, ideas, and camaraderie. The beautiful setting of Plateia Patio, coupled with incredibly good food, provided the perfect backdrop for meaningful interactions and exchanges. 

This event was particularly special as it came at a time when our community has faced significant challenges due to the recent wildfires Despite these hardships, the BruinTech social was a testament to the resilience and solidarity of our community. There was a palpable sense of gratitude and unity as we came together to support one another. 

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. Your presence and participation are what make our community strong and vibrant. 

2. Nominations Open for 2025 UC Tech Award Applications

The UC Tech Awards 2025 applications are now open until March 3, 2025. Allow the UC Tech community to recognize outstanding contributions to digital transformation and the advancement of the UC Tech community. Applicants can nominate themselves or colleagues, and winners will be celebrated at the UC Tech Awards ceremony on June 26 at UC Riverside.

This year introduces the new "AI Impact Award," encouraging innovative projects in artificial intelligence. All applicants will have their submissions reviewed by Chief Information Officers and published online, with winners receiving a complimentary pass to the UC Tech Conference

3. LA Fires: Campus Updates and Resources

UCLA has prioritized the safety and wellness of its members, providing up-to-date information on campus operations, air quality, and emergency plans. The university has also organized virtual town halls to address fire-related concerns and offer support. 

Resources for students, faculty, and staff include mental health services, emergency housing, financial assistance, and more. UCLA continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide regular updates through the BruinALERT system. For more details, visit the UCLA Newsroom.

4. Apply for BruinTech 2025 Scholarship Applications 

The 2024-25 BruinTech Executive Board is excited to announce that the Application Form is now open for our annual scholarship program!

We will be awarding four (4) scholarships in total:

  • Three (3), $1,000 scholarships for a UCLA Extension course
  • One (1), Jackie Reynolds Scholarship which covers the cost of a seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program (TMP).
