UC Love Data Week is a week-long offering of presentations and workshops focused on data access, management, security, sharing, and preservation. All members of the University of California community are welcome to attend. Make sure to register with your UC-campus email. Check it out.

3. Data Privacy Day: Panel Discussion 

Join the UC Campus Privacy Officers in celebrating Data Privacy Day on January 28, 2022 at noon, with a panel discussion between UC data and privacy experts who will be discussing the film, The Social Dilemma, the future of data, what UC’s role should be (if any) in solving the social dilemma, and how viewers can take active steps to better control their data and the data entrusted to them by the UC Community. Register here.
 
 
4. Encryption: UK data watchdog criticises government campaign

The No Place to Hide campaign says Facebook should abandon plans for end-to-end encryption in its Messenger app, saying it helps to hide child abuse.

But the Information Commissioner's Office argues the technology strengthens children's online safety.
