Dear BruinTechs,
The BruinTech Executive Board is pleased to announce our annual scholarship program. As part of UCLA BruinTech’s mission, we strive to foster personal development and professional growth through these annual scholarships. Our goal is to enrich the UCLA community by offering Bruin technologists an opportunity to further their knowledge and skills.
This year we are excited to be awarding four (4) scholarships – three for a UCLA Extension course and one seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program.
2023 BRUINTECH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS
A total of four (4) BruinTech scholarships will be awarded for calendar year 2023.
Three (3) scholarships will be awarded towards the cost of a UCLA Extension course of up to $1,000.
• The scholarship must be used no later than December 31, 2023.
• Recipients are required to provide a copy of their transcript upon completion of the course.
• If the recipient cannot attend or complete the course within the specified timeframe, the award will be forfeited.
The Jackie Reynolds Scholarship covers one (1) seat to the UCLA Extension Technical Management Program (TMP). This 5-day course will be held March 26-31, 2023. Applicants for this scholarship must submit a letter of support from their supervisor and provide proof of completion at the end of the program.
The TMP is a 5-day program that offers the latest leadership techniques from experienced professionals and industry leaders. New managers can develop into dynamic leaders by discovering productive ways to solve problems, strategize, and motivate others. Experienced managers can upgrade their latest thinking on management and leadership. This intensive week-long program helps managers gain leadership skills, enhance interpersonal skills, learn the latest business trends and paradigms, obtain a repertoire of management methods, and network with attendees from around the world.
ELIGIBILITY
Scholarships are available to all career staff and eligible contract employees who have completed their probation period. Graduate students are not eligible. There is a limit of one (1) application per person, per year.
CRITERIA
The BruinTech Scholarship Committee will evaluate applications based on three criteria:
• Impact on your career path
• Impact on the campus
• Creativity, innovation, and/or initiative
APPLICATION
Applicants shall submit a statement (500 words or less) describing how a specific UCLA Extension course or the Technical Management Program will support their professional development and benefit their respective department, broader campus, or the University system. Applicants must state whether they are applying for the UCLA Extension course or TMP scholarship. In addition to the statement, those applying for the TMP scholarship are required to include a letter of support from their supervisor with their application submission.
