1. Exciting News! UC Tech Conference Awardees

We are thrilled to share that our very own ‘Usability Training and Insights Team’, led by the amazing BruinTech member Anna Ahearn, has won the prestigious UC Tech 2024 Silver Design Award at the UC Tech Conference this week!

A huge congratulations to the entire team for their outstanding achievement! Let’s celebrate this fantastic success together!

The summary of the project in her own words is as follows:

“In response to a shortage of user experience (UX) professionals, a training program was created to extend human-centered methodologies to UX-adjacent staff, leading to significant improvements in UCLA’s learning management system. The program incorporated student insights by integrating a case study into UCLA Extension’s UX capstone course, providing students with practical experience and staff with innovative ideas. This initiative not only democratized human-centered design principles but also fostered a culture of collaboration and innovation, benefiting over 40,000 students and faculty.”

The Disabilities and Computing Program (DCP) have restarted their tailored consultations on a multitude of topics! Consultations are open and free for all UCLA members, students, staff and faculty. 4. Upcoming Event: UC Womxn in Tech Fall Fireside Chat

Join us on November 19th at 1pm for an engaging Fireside Chat with Rachael Nava, the University of California’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Nava oversees the UC Operations division, including Information Technology Services. 

This event is a great opportunity to learn about her leadership, focus, and priorities that impact the entire UC community.

The session is open to the entire UC community.
