1.  UCUX Usability Summit: UCLA Presentations

Two UCLA teams presented at the June 7 UCUX Usability Summit. Check out the below YouTube recordings with captions of the two presentations.

Along with other contributors, the Bruin Learn usability project was lead by BruinTech’s Immediate Past President, Anna Ahearn, and was also nominated for a UC Tech Award. Congratulations to the team!

2. UCUX Usability Summit: UX Trends in Higher Education

Previous BruinTech President Mary Watkins, who is currently a user experience designer and manager at UC Santa Cruz, also presented at the UCUX Usability Summit. Her presentation “UX Trends in Higher Education” has been formatted into an article available for reading. Learn more about what sort of challenges and motifs in higher education as it pertains to usability and user experience.

3. Google Workspace Service Adjustments: Permanent Baseline Quotas

A storage limit will be implemented on all UCLA-related Google personal accounts and shared drives starting June 27, 2024. Accounts will need to be under these limits, or permanent baseline quotas, to avoid disruption to UCLA Google services. Certain groups of UCLA community members will be allowed an opportunity to be granted a quota extension. You can view more information about the different affiliations and account types here.

4. Allies for All Abilities

The UC Allies for Abilities (3A) Employee Resource Group promotes the well-being of people with disabilities at the UC, including staff, faculty, and students. 3A welcomes all members of the UC community who are interested in supporting 3A’s missions and objectives.

Their first-ever group meeting will be on Monday. As IT community members, you may have valuable insight on web accessibility ideas to share!
