1. RightsTech AI Summit at Digital Entertainment World

In partnership with UCLA Center for Media, Entertainment, and Sports and Reed Smith LLP, Digital Media Wire has announced that the RightsTech AI Summit at Digital Entertainment World 2024 will be held at the Palisades Ballroom in Carnesale Commons. The full-day event will generate conversation about generative AI, copyright, licensing, and more, with topics ranging from opting out of AI training models to AI regulation and legislation.

2. Contextualizing Collections: Introduction to Immersive Annotated 360 Virtual Tours with Adobe Captivate

The Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) and the UCLA Digital Library Program are collaborating to show you how you can use Adobe Captivate to create 360 virtual tours. The workshop will walk you through building annotated virtual tours that include both images and videos, as well as how to conduct interactive eLearning activities.

 Knowledge of Adobe products is optional! Adobe Captivate is an authoring tool used for eLearning content; while it’s not part of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, workshop participants can choose to purchase and download if they wish to follow along in their own program.

3. UCLA IDRE - Learning ChatGPT: An Accessible Introduction

Join UCLA Institute for Digital Research & Education for their Learning ChatGPT workshop series. The first session “An Accessible Introduction” will explore the importance and functionalities of ChatGPT, covering its limitations and applications through demonstrations. Created with a broader audience in mind, this  requires no prior knowledge of ChatGPT or AI to attend!

When: Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (PST)

4. Beyond the Hype: Unraveling the Myths, Realities & Governance of Artificial Intelligence

Dr. Brandie Nonnecke, founding director of the CITRIS Policy Lab, will speak on a large breadth of AI concepts, from using AI for focused tasks to the seemingless endless possibilities brought forth by generative AI. This talk will focus on the real potentials and limitations of AI, bypassing commonplace hype to give the audience a more nuanced understanding of how AI will be integrated into society.
