Learn a little more about the folks who help the UC Tech conference succeed. UC Tech Ambassadors are campus representatives that encourage conference participation among their respective tech colleagues. They make sure the important information from the main UC Tech planning committee is successfully shared within their campus. This includes information about conference registration, presentations, awards programs, and other communications as well.

UCLA’s ambassador is Chris Patterson from the Office of Advanced Research and Computing (OARC). Reach out to him if you have any questions about UC Tech, including how to submit a presentation proposal – which are due May 1!

4. Justice Department to Publish Final Rule to Strengthen Web and Mobile App Access for People with Disabilities

On Monday, April 8, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland signed a rule under Title II of the ADA to ensure accessibility of web content and mobile apps. This rule clarifies the obligations of state and local governments, and aims to provide standards for addressing a broad range of accessibility issues faced by Americans with vision, hearing, cognitive, and manual dexterity disabilities. Of note, as a public entity, UCLA will need to comply with this rule within 2-3 years of the rule’s publication date on the Federal Register – the exact deadline will be dependent on how UCLA’s population size is determined.
