UC-systemwide VP of Information Technology Services and CIO Van Williams will be speaking on the last two years of his appointment as well as upcoming plans for the UC tech community. As CIO, he serves as the leader and chief strategist for the UC IT workforce, with strategies that have prioritized goals such as improving information security.

2. BruinTech Tour: Data Center
BruinTech is happy to announce our upcoming UCLA Data Center Tour hosted by your guide Tony Escobar, Data Center facilities manager. You’ll learn how UCLA supports voice, data, wireless, 800 Mhz radio and cable television services for the UCLA campus. Space is limited, so RSVP now!

4. UCLA AMG: ProShare 2024 Applications
ProShare applications are open for 2024! Sponsored by the UCLA Administrative Management Group, ProShare is an initiative that brings select UCLA staff together for a 6-month networking and support program. Participants will grow professionally while strengthening their connections with the vast array of UCLA departments.
Participants are sorted into groups that meet monthly beginning January 2024, and each group will set their own meeting schedules and agenda. Some previous topics include office tours, department introductions, confidential discussions and group troubleshooting, and professional resources.

5. General Data Protection Regulation Workshop
UC San Diego is hosting a public workshop on the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a privacy law that applies to entities that handle personal data of individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA). The scope of the GDPR is larger and differs from that of comparable US privacy laws, such as FERPA and HIPAA. Because the GDPR impacts many UC campus activities such as research, recruiting, and fundraising, this workshop comes highly recommended for anyone who handles personal data of individuals within EEA.
