Creating a harmonious relationship between design and engineering teams will be a familiar challenge for any company building digital products. Ensuring workflows, methods, and standards are streamlined across product teams have grown even more crucial as technologies and platforms continue to evolve. Design Systems and Design Tokens have emerged as solutions to not only maintain, and even improve, efficiency but also ensure design consistency across product offerings.
Join George and Andy in this presentation as they share their journey of implementing Design Systems and Design Tokens to scale design decisions. They will explore real-world examples from their trials, touching upon valuable insights into the process while including their successes and lessons learned along the way.
About the presenters:
George Frederick is Vice President of Experience Design at Dictionary.com. He has more than 25 years of experience building teams that lead through evidence-driven design. He’s built product design, brand design, and user-experience research teams from the ground up and integrated them into company cultures, processes and business plans. Prior to Dictionary.com, George spent his career in the news industry, where he helped lead the industry transition from print to digital focus.
Andy Dang is a Senior Experience Designer at Dictionary.com, with a focus on building Design Systems for the company. With over three years of experience as a product and user-experience designer, he has scaled design processes in news, health, and education. He is passionate about bridging the gap between designers and engineers and actively employs user research, interaction design, and rapid prototyping to create meaningful digital products. Prior to joining Dictionary.com, Andy designed digital consumer revenue solutions for local news sites across the US

I’ll share a handful of tools you can easily pick-up and integrate into your work to make sure you plan, manage and successfully introduce change.

About the presenter:
Lynn directs Strategic Organizational Change Management for UC San Diego’s Enterprise Systems Renewal. She guides change teams for enterprise projects and leads ESR cross-portfolio and program organizational change management (OCM). Before coming to UC San Diego, Lynn directed Integrated Information for Global Guggenheim, Guggenheim Museum, NYC. She holds an M.A. in American Studies, M.A. Museum Practices, and a Masters of Library & Information Science. In her work she draws upon her knowledge and experience as a certified Project Management Processional (PMP), Certified Process Design Engineer (CPDE), LSS Black Belt, PROSCI Change Practitioner & Train-the-Trainer and Certified Change Management Professional candidate.
