Joy Guey, Emerging Technologies Advocate, Director of Bridge Innovation Studio, founded the Bridge Innovation Studio and is an Emerging Technologies Advocate for the Social Sciences Center for Education, Research, and Technology, where she partners with others to explore practical uses of new technologies to support teaching, research, and community-centered innovation. Her work focuses on translating experimental tools into usable, pedagogically grounded learning experiences. With a human-centric approach, she supports projects on and off campus that help people expand the scope of their impact and bring solutions to real-world questions. Joy’s collaborative spirit has been shaped by more than ten years of working with UCLA technologists, faculty, and students.
She received a BA in Psychology from UCLA, where she also minored in Digital Humanities, and a Master of Social Science degree earned in 2019. More recently, she completed a master’s program in Narrative and Emerging Media at ASU and hopes to share those learnings through the XR Initiative, which she has co-chaired for the past seven years.
For BruinTech 2026’s theme, The Power of Community, she brings a bridge-building perspective: connecting people, tools, and ideas to strengthen shared capacity.
